Discussion Points​

  • Finalized the use of the ‘Inter’ typeface for FOSSology’s redesign, as it aligns well with the visual style and is OFL-licensed, ensuring open-source compatibility.
  • Discussed potential design implications of shifting from React to Next.js with JavaScript, especially regarding component structure and flexibility.
  • Explored possible directions for ideating the secondary navigation bar, including evaluating structural limitations and how best to integrate it within the existing layout.

Activities Completed​

  • Reviewed and addressed all feedback from the heuristic evaluation of the currently analyzed pages.
  • Incorporated feedback into the header components, completing all interaction states and a working prototype ready for review.
  • Developed two versions of the main header, each using different logo variants.
  • Conducted multiple ideation rounds for the secondary navigation bar to explore layout and usability options.
  • Replaced all instances of the ‘Roboto’ font with ‘Inter’ due to licensing incompatibility, ensuring the design stays aligned with open-source licensing requirements.

Next Steps​

  • Continue expanding the design system by adding a well-defined color palette and typographic scale.
  • Resume heuristic evaluations for the remaining pages and document progress.
  • Refine and iterate further on the design of the secondary navigation bar for improved clarity and usability.
